  NEW LIGHT in July 15th Watchtower??????

  my aunt just told me that there is new light in the july 15th watchtower study article.

  she won't tell me what it is.

  she said to look close and i would find it.

  obstacles that we face in life have a tendency to relly get our attention, and tax our knowledge,and wisdom to overcome them.

  when we're faced with problems we have to figure out solutions.

  no problems,, no need for solutions.. evolution, the survival of the fittest, or perhaps sometimes survival of the smartest,, this has to be the force behind the development of the greater human brain apart from other animals.

  if we didn't have evil,, we would not be conscious enough to comprehend a discussion of it.LOL Evolutionarily speaking.

  we do have good and evil and the important point, easily missed, and often unseen is why we have it.....ideal fantasies.

  our mind has a natural tendancy to make worlds and to designate some of them as perfect and if enough emotional energy is invested in one of those ideals it becomes the drving force for just about everything we do and consider worth doing.... instead of seeking contentment by acceptance of what is, we are driven to believe that contentment is not possible until the real world matches the inner ideal world... rather than the obviously simpler step of getting the ideal world to match the real world.... the path of zen.

  first good and evil are judgements. to make any judgement you need a standard of measure. if that standard is not reality, what is it??
  

  ideal fantasies are not real, but they form the basis for any judgement of good or evil... what is good supports the ideal what is evil harms it... so simple yet so hard to comprehend because people seem to see good defining evil and vs versa and miss the ideal fantasy world that underpins both concepts.

  reality without comparison to ideals is just real... not good not evil.

  When the virus now known as DNA first infitrated bacteria and symbiotically invented a new mode of travel mechanism, it seems to have developed two main stradegies for its replication and survival.... prey which multiplies like crazy without much intellect and predators who hunt the prey for food and helps prune off the worst mutations and the ones with poor immune systems, etc... both together form unstable relationships as they deal with enviornmental changes, mutations, resource scarcity, etc... an arms race between them has been documented in evolutionary history... prey develope generally along defensive stradegies while prey develope offensive which includes greater intellect and cunning...

  humans are among the few species which seems to have divided itself into both predator and prey among its own kind....

  its no accident that leaders are called shepherds and their prey sheep (^_^)
  as to paradise.... the words boredom and stagnation springs to mind.

  the JW paradise seems to avoid this by saying that paradise will not be like the garden of eden, but instead a massive clean up of a toasted world and a re-forming it to some paradise like status in the far distant future...and then perhaps moving off world to do the same to the rest of the planets that may be out there.

  just curious.... i learned when i was 17 years old, when i was a jw .

  (against their rules).

  i still can read it.... i like artificial languages.

  It always amazes me when I hear this. Why do these devotees of Klingon not spend their time learning, say, a useful second language (like French, German, Italian, Hindi, or Chinese (hey, one in five people on this planet are Chinese, if you can't beat them, join them).

  I would say the main reason is motivated by fun and a sense of community with other like minded people...and out of 6billion even +3% oddities such as we are makes a lot of people (^_^)

  trinitarian arguements are often out of context, but this is just plain lame.... the term Lord is equal to our term mister, notice how Paul addressing someone he does not recognize as god, but as a stranger... as Jesus knocked him off his ass.... Paul said, who are you lord?

  it was a common term of respect, and yes you could say the absolute Lord would be YHWH, but any King sitting upon his throne as David or even Jesus would be Lord in the sense of one deserving respect and honor in the name of God.

  Paul in Corinthians is clearly contrasting pagan god[s] and pagan lords which presumably would be the humans claiming to be sons of God on earth and those who are considered in power by the will of their god[s]...

  the best anti-trinitarian verse is the one where Paul says that GOD subjected all things to Jesus, and Paul feels the need to clarify that this is with the obvious exception to God himself... and that when Jesus has subjected all things to himself, he will THEN turn it all over to his father so that God may be God [once again as before the fall one would assume?] over all and to all...

  how trinitarians can so easily blind themselves to the utter stupidity of this passage if their position is correct and Jesus IS GOD, is beyond my comprehension.

  not to mention other equally obvious statements such as WE are heirs of God and Joint heirs WITH christ....

  that Jesus' father is our father, and his God is OUR God... as he told Mary after the ressurection and told her to declare the goodnews to his followers that he would return to "my God and YOUR God"

  and Paul who told the pagans that GOD appointed a MAN to judge the world....a people who would be more receptive to trinitarian silliness then the jews ever would.

  How many of you gave up a college scholarship?

  how many of you gave up a college scholarship to appear "spiritual"?

  jt's thread about "homegrown lawyers" and the wtbs willingly sending certain ones to college started me thinking about that question.

  i know i for one, relinquished that scholarship to show how "spiritual" i was at 18. .

  I had an aversion to partying which made JWs seem right to me... and college as presented on TV and Movies seem very wrong, so I went to a trade school instead...and I did not graduate there, partly because I was not motivated enough to work and go to school with JWs telling me that a higher ed was a waste of time anyway....so I gave into my natural laziness and let school slide away....

  I still remember how to count in it

  it has a very tinny and harsh sound to it, unlike real languages which is one of the supposed reasons it never did nor will catch on

  Klingon on the other hand was developed by a linguist and is now spoken by more people around the world then esperanto.

  Are we too hard on INDIVIDUAL JW's?

  i am definitely no longer a jw (11 years).

  that having been said, living in a "democratic" land, the one thing that is challenging is agreeing with freedom of religion, but also protesting when it becomes offensive.

  don't get me wrong..... my family shuns me completely and i do think that it is "offensive", and against the laws of nature, which makes the point even more legitimate...... : do they really know what they are doing?

  some people on this board seem like a spouse who caught their wife in adultry.... the love is gone replaced by deep hatred which seems to be preventing them from seeing the original reasons why they had love in the first place... perhaps its easier to deal with things that way, but it is no less brain dead nor less black and white then what you are accusing the still trapped members of the Borg... you have flipped to a different degree of black and white but not yet escaped it if you can only have love or hate when it comes to fellow humans.

  I remember why I became a JW and I would probably still be in if I had not had come to doubt the hypnotists enough to unvolunteer myself from their clutches.... one must remember, everyone who is clucking like a chicken at the hypnotists ringing of a bell, started off completely allowing the hypnotist to take control over their thinking.... but gradually as the spell gets deeper and the critical thinking become less and less and trust of the hypnotist grows deeper, one starts doing things they would never have done voluntarily before, but now feels wrong if they fight it....

  the only way to break the spell of a hypnotist is to get victim/subject to stop trusting him, to doubt enough to start thinking contrary to the leadings of the shepherd.... to wake up from the trance.

  most JWs, I would imagine are like I was, fully CONviNcED that I had found THE TRUTH in some sense of those words at least relative to all other alternatives

  it does no good for you to yell at them as that will only make them see you are the demon inspired worldy enemies they have come to expect from satan's world that hates them without cause... as each individual JW would see hims as not deserving such treatment.

  the catholics too started as a persecuted minority without power.... the troubling thing is what happens when the persecuted becomes the persecutors, they are two sides of a similar coin.
